How to get to us?

Some say that love is the only test that is worth its pain.
You'll soon learn that getting married in the Cyclades is as well!

The exercise requires a bit of planning, that comes with a subtlety: it is still a bit early to fully plan and book the whole trip.
Planes, boats and hotels, are not all available yet to book as it is too early ahead of the new season.

GETTING TO FOLEGANDROS

There is no airport in Folegandros , so you have to combine:

  • A plane to Santorini, simpler, or to Athens;

  • A boat; and there are two types of boat in the Cyclades:
speedboats (more expensive) and large ferries, slower and cheaper

In these conditions, how to book? Patience and flexibility will be your best allies . Google Flights and Ferryhopper.com too.

There are several options available to you:

Via Santorini

Convenient, fast and close.

In Santorini, the airport is a short half-hour taxi ride from the port (€40), but we highly recommend allowing a bit of time between the two.

From Mexico: The cheapest connecting flights are from Mexico City with Air France / KLM. From Cancun, routes via London with British Airlines, via Frankfurt with Condor and Sky Express, and via Zurich with SWISS can be interesting. Other connections are also possible with Iberojet (via Madrid), Air Canada and Lufthansa. Multiple connections via the USA are also possible (Delta and American Airlines)

From China: Currently unbeatable prices are available from Abu Dhabi with Ethiad and via Paris/Amsterdam with Air France/KLM.

From Australia: As of now the best and cheapest options are via Singapore with Singapore Airlines and Scoot.

By Boat:

Traveling from Athens to Folegandros by boat is a whole different adventure.

First, you need to get to the port of Piraeus, which is between 1h 15min to 1h 30 min from the airport, depending on your mode of transportation: by bus X96 (the slowest and cheapest, €6), by metro, or by taxi (€70).

Next, it will take you at least 4 hours and 40 minutes on speedboats, and up to 9 hours on larger ferries (often overnight). For such a long journey, on rough windy days, you need a strong stomach on the speedboats; the larger ferries are more stable.

Via other islands:

Folegandros is accessible from several Cyclades islands, allowing you to vary your itinerary:

Milos: About 1 to 1.5 hours by ferry or speedboat. Known for its unique landscapes and marble quarries, it is a great option for a stopover before reaching Folegandros.

Ios: Journey time approximately 1h30. Renowned for its lively beaches and nightlife, Ios offers an interesting contrast to the calm of Folegandros.

Naxos & Paros: Frequent connections, approximately 3h30 crossing. Naxos is distinguished by its mountains and traditional villages, while Paros is famous for its beaches and Cycladic charm.

Mykonos: Approximately 4.5 hours away, the island is known for its nightlife, the JackieO' Beach Club and its luxurious beaches,

Schedules vary depending on the season and weather conditions. Ferryhopper.com is a must to check availability and book. It is advisable to remain flexible, especially out of season, as crossings can be less frequent.

ACCOMMODATION

Airbnb

airbnb-folegandros5.jpeg

The island has about 2000 rooms, there should be something for everyone and every budget, especially since the tourist season starts from June.
Most of the festivities of the wedding will take place in Chora, the vibrant heart of the island, making it the most charming and practical area for accommodation. But you can of course choose another place on the island, towards Ano Meria or Agkali. Everything is close by with a motorbike, a quad or a car to get around.

The port, on the east side of the island, is our least favourite because it is at sea level and you'll miss out on the spectacular views that gives Folégandros its reputation. But if waking up and taking a swim is what you are looking for, the port it's not too bad!

Hotels
Not all of the hotels on the island are on Booking, that would be too easy! We put togethere this non-exhaustive list of recommended accommodations. You often have to contact the hotel directly thgough its website and even book by phone.
Google Maps is also a good source of information to find hotels that are not on Booking.

Airbnb
If you prefer Airbnb, there are about 120 accommodations on the island. Not all of them have opened their inventory, so you will have to check availability regularly.
